Class Descriptions
Hunter Divisons
Hunter Over Fences - to be shown over apporximately eight fences at the required height. To be judged on performance and soundness unless otherwise noted.
Hunter Under Saddle - to be shown at a walk, trot and canter. Light contact with the horse's mouth is required. Martingales not permitted.
Courses... will simulate fences found in the hunting field, including brush, coops, walls, gates, ascending oxers, post and rail and panels. Management reserves the right to adjust fence height or spreads as competition warrants. In and out in classes 43-47 only.
Equitation/ Medal/Equitation Challenge/Horsemanship / Reinsmanship Classes
These classes demonstrate the rider / driver's ability to smoothly, stylishly, safely and effectively guide the horse. The performance of the horse is not considered unless caused by rider / driver error. The rider / driver's posit9ion should be elegant, workmanlike and is judged according to the specific criteria of the hunter seat, dressage, saddle seat, western and driving disciplines.
Pleasure Classes
Pleasure horses should give the distinct impression of being enjoyable to ride or drive, with a mannerly and relaxed attitude. Transitions between gates should appear effortless and smooth.
Halter Classes
On the line - to be judged on conformation - way of moving and soundness
Showmanship Classes
The ideal showmanship performance consists of a poised, confidant, appropriately attired exhibitor leading a well-groomed and conditioned horse that quickly and efficiently performs the requested pattern with smoothness and precision. Turnout is 40% of the total score.
Dressage Suitability, Materiale & Pleasure
To be shown in a group at walk, trot and canter under saddle. The suitable dressage horse shows acceptance of contact, clear and steady rhythm and suppleness throughout the body at all gaits. Trot and Canter lengthenings may be required in Suitability. No lengthenings in Materiale or Pleasure.
Family Walk / Trot
Riders Related by birth or marriage ride side-by-side in teams of two or more at the walk and trot. Turnout to count - Creativity Encouraged - All Breeds and Seats
$50 Timed Trail
Riders negotiate obstacles and other challenges at the walk, trot and canter / lope against the clock. Riders who accumulate the most points in the fastest time WINS!
Hunter Pairs
Jumping: Two riders simultaneously negotiate a hunter course of eight fences, halting midway and changing leaders, then jumping the last fence abreast. Flat: Two riders ride side-by-side at walk, trot and canter and through a reverse. Judged on even pace, good manners and style.
Handy Hunter
Course simulates conditions found in the hunting field, including an in and out, trot bounce, hand gallop and dismount and lead.
